Secure Your Smile with Dental Implants
Imagine the ability to eat virtually anything and enjoy social occasions without worrying for a moment about your teeth! Dental implants can be a life-changing advantage for patients who wear dentures or have experienced tooth loss. Attached securely to surgically placed prosthetic tooth roots, implant-retained dentures provide increased stability, comfort and confidence -- along with a beautifully complete smile.
Implant-supported snap-on dentures are offered by San Antonio dentist Joseph Perry, whose practice focuses exclusively on work with denture patients. If you would like to learn more about dentures secured with dental implants, contact our office today.
About Snap-on Dentures
Dr. Perry can create custom dentures that attach directly to mini dental implants surgically placed in the jaw bone. Attached to a firm base, there is no concern for loose, slipping dentures or limited food options. Removable snap-on dentures remain in place whether you are biting into a firm piece of fruit, chewing juicy steak, or engaging in animated conversation. Snap-on dentures are designed for optimal fit and a natural appearance, so you can smile with confidence and ease. Our patients have been very pleased with their snap-on dentures, and say the experience is second only to having a full set of natural teeth.
What Are Mini Dental Implants?
Dental implants are small titanium posts that are surgically implanted in the jaw to serve as artificial roots for crowns, dentures, and bridges. Mini implants are similar, except the titanium posts are quite a bit smaller, and can be placed and restored in a single appointment. Dr. Perry has been performing mini implant surgery for more than ten years, and is considered an expert in the procedure.
The mini-implant process is less expensive and less invasive than that of standard dental implants, so extended recovery time is unnecessary. In some cases, we can modify your existing dentures to snap onto mini implants, and you can walk out of the office following surgery with a secure new smile. If you do not currently wear dentures, we can provide a temporary denture to wear while we craft your new denture. In addition to providing a sturdy base for your dentures, implants also serve to help your jaw retain bone density. The implants stimulate the bone when you bite and chew, similar to the way natural tooth roots function, and prevent the loss of bone mass that can result from missing teeth.
Your New Dentures
To create your snap-on dentures, Dr. Perry will provide you with an exam, take x-rays and form models of your teeth and gums. He uses 3D cone beam technology to check your bone density and determine the best location for implants. A temporary denture appliance will be provided for your use after the implants are in place.
The custom snap-on denture appliance is created to include several snaps or “O-ring” sockets that match the ball-shaped heads of your mini implants. Once your new dentures are back from the lab, your dentist will test them for fit and stability, and make sure that your bite is properly aligned. Your will show you how to remove and replace your dentures, which is easily done with a little practice.
