Complete Your Smile with Full or Partial Dentures
Missing teeth is one of the most dreaded dental health problems. Without all the teeth in place, oral functions become difficult, the structure of the face and jaw bone becomes compromised, and the appearance of the smile is impacted. Fortunately, there are many possible solutions available to patients who need to address tooth loss. Dr. Joseph Perry had dedicated his San Antonio dental practice to custom dentures, which allow patients to restore function, beauty, and structure to the mouth. With advanced technology and newer techniques being continually developed, there are now denture solutions, in both full and partial restorations, to fit the unique needs of each of our patients.
Full Dentures
Full dentures are typically what comes to mind when patients discuss dentures treatment. Full dentures are solid dental restorations that restore an entire upper or lower set of teeth, or in some cases, both. Full dentures are custom-designed in a color, size, and shape that closely resembles natural teeth and complement the face and smile. Full dentures are a restorative option for patients who have lost all or most of their teeth. Full dentures improve speech and make it easier to chew and eat. In addition, full dentures create a beautiful smile that helps to uphold the facial structure.
Partial Dentures
For our San Antonio patients, partial dentures, like dental bridges, are restorations that are used when patients have lost a group of teeth from one area of the mouth. When patients have healthy teeth remaining, partial dentures can fill in gaps between these healthy teeth in order to improve the aesthetics of the smile and restore oral functions. Like full dentures, partial dentures are fabricated to the specific size, shape, and color that that is right for each patient. This ensures that the partial dentures blend in with the smile, appearing the same as the remaining natural teeth.
Which Type of Dentures Is Right for Me?
Choosing whether full or partial dentures is right for each patient is as simple as examining how many teeth have been lost and the health of the remaining teeth. For those who have lost the majority of their teeth, or all of them, full dentures are the best option. Patients with some remaining healthy teeth are better off being fixed with partial dentures. Whether full or partial dentures will be used, patients will still need to determine which type of denture will be used. Dental advances allow Dr. Perry to offer dentures in several forms, including the following:
- Attachment dentures: In the case of full dentures, attachment dentures are secured in the mouth by creating a suction between the dentures and gums. Attachment dentures can be made more secure with the use of denture adhesives. Partial dentures will be attached to the mouth by being secured to surrounding teeth, which will be capped with dental crowns.
- Implant-supported dentures: Both full and partial dentures can be secured with dental implants, which are surgically implanted into the jaw bone. Implant-supported dentures offer optimal security, fit, and comfort.
- Fountain Of Youth Dentures: Fountain Of Youth Dentures work with the facial musclesto lift and fill the mouth and lips while improving the smile. These dentures provide excellent fit, comfort, and function and eliminate the sunken in appearance that patients tend to get when teeth have been lost.
Because each of these dentures offer their own unique advantages, choosing which option is right for each patient is largely based on personal need and preference.
